Tello - Tell Your Story! Game description
Tello - Tell Your Story is a mobile game where you spontaneously tell stories based on randomly selected images. The made-up story is recorded during the game. Thus, you can edit it afterwards and even add a musical background. The final result is an original film that you can share with the world or save in your mobile phone as a kind reminder.
Tello is a game that both entertains and stimulates creativity. The challenge here is posed by the limited time-bar (33 seconds) and the fact that you never know what image will come next. The more thematic packages you use the more interesting and surprising you stories become. A great challenge will be to create stories in a foreign language, rapping or singing the story out. All this depends on the invention of the players. We are also working on a version of the game suitable to blind persons.
The game was developed by two friends from Gdańsk. They have known each other for over 10 years. They went to the same class at the High School No. 20. Afterwards, Kuba and Czarek completed Intermedia at the Gdańsk Academy of Fine Arts.
One can say that the idea was brought up already in kindergarten. Kuba, along with his pal Tomek, invented a game where you tell stories based on randomly selected hand-made images. The games raised an abundance of emotions and were never boring. Plethora of funny stories were created, albeit none of them was ever recorded. Such a pity. After several years we decided to change this and develop an electronic version of our game. This is how we came up with mobile version of Tello - Tell Your Story.
Several months ago we attended PixelHeaven 2017 – an independent games fair event in Warsaw - where we received a lot of positive feedback that motivated us to take up further actions. We received support from the youngest ones as well. Kids fell in love with Tello and thus gave us a lot of images as souvenirs.
That is why we decided to develop a special version of the game – Tello Kids. All animation will be developed based on children’s drawings selected by means of competition.
Additional versions of the game :
Tello Kids (0-12 years)
Some games that children play develop skills that will come in handy during their adult life. One of the most important aspects is to develop imagination for it helps us cope in each and every situation as well as create remarkable things. Thanks to Tello Kids, we can stimulate creativity and spontaneity of children and furthermore - integrate whole families and lots of friends.
Children are thrilled the most when they can listen to and view their works. They aim at telling better stories each time they play and try using more difficult words as well as form more complex sentences. This is how a literary genius might be born in front of parents’ eyes.
If our project succeeds, we will aim at transferring it into schools. This version will be prepared for teachers so as to allow them to use it during classes. Most of all, we will focus on developing a model for learning foreign languages. We will introduce various mini-games from which the teacher will be able to select the right one. For example – naming images for beginners and telling entire stories in a foreign language for children with more advanced command.
Objectives of the authors
We wish to finish our mobile game Tello - Tell Your Story. We have been working on it for over a year now. So far, we have completed a test version suitable for ios. We also aim at developing a version for Android and Apple TV. We also aim at developing special versions dedicated to children (Tello Kids), teachers (Tello Education) and blind persons. However, in order to complete our project we require not only time but also resources to employ new specialists, conduct educational researches and develop the application even further. We need your support to succeed!
